SB 1390Primary Author:
Richard Pan (D)
Senate Bill 1390 would prohibit social media platforms from amplifying harmful content that results in a user viewing harmful content from another user with whom the user did not choose to share a connection. Harmful content is broadly defined as content that includes slander, threats of violence, and disinformation.
It would also authorize the Attorney General to enforce these provisions in civil court and specify penalties for violators.
