Charlottesville: Political payday for the American Federation of Teachers

The teachers union sees the Nazi rally in VA as an opportunity to further its radical agenda.

The American Federation of Teachers is using the Nazi rally in Charlottesville on August 13th as an excuse to launch a massive propaganda campaign against Donald Trump, the right, the Republican Party and everyone else who does not comport with their far left weltanschauung. While the events in Virginia were indeed disturbing and Heather Heyer’s death certainly tragic, AFT’s response to it has been off the rails, launching the union into full indoctrination mode.

First, a vile press release unleashed last week spells out the union’s take on the doings in Charlottesville. What follows are three of the more odious segments from this hysterical statement. (My comments are in italics.)

“It is not just a sobering reminder of the very real racism and anti-Semitism running through the veins of Americans….”

Americans? These words mimic Barack Obama’s infamous 2015 racism-is-still-in-our-national-DNA crack. But in reality, that a few Nazi wackos march is barely news. In a country of over 325 million people, there will be small groups of extremists of all sorts. The great majority of Americans’ veins are just fine, thank you.

“White supremacists and Nazis now feel empowered to come out of the shadows and inflict terror on American communities.”

Better they come out of the shadows; at least we know who and where they are. And I agree with the ACLU; they have every right to peacefully march, which they did for the most part in Charlottesville.

“White Americans get to presume the laws will protect them, and African-American, Jewish, queer and other marginalized Americans deserve that peace of mind as well.”

As a Jew, this particularly offended me. Sure, in my almost 70 years, I have had some folks let me know they didn’t like my kind. Whatever. Neither I, nor any Jew that I have known in late 20th-early 21st Century America, has been “marginalized.” The statement is especially despicable coming from Randi Weingarten, a Jew and a one-percenter who makes almost a half-million dollars a year and lives in harmony with many Gentiles in a beautiful part of the tony Hamptons in New York. If that’s what being marginalized is, please sign me up!!

In addition to the above statement, AFT also issued an unnecessarily heavy-handed resolution in which they point fingers all over the place but most notably, of course, at President Trump whom they want censured for failing to “reject hate.”

And now for the really bad part….

The union has introduced “#CHARLOTTESVILLECURRICULUM,” sample lessons that teachers can use to further the union’s leftwing agenda for years to come. Yup, little Johnny and Janie very well be may be learning from leftist, ideologically driven groups like the Southern Policy Law Center, the Anti-Defamation League, Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, et al, that America is an evil, racist, homophobic and misogynistic country.

At the same time, there is nary a word from the AFT and their agenda-driven friends about the 600 lb. gorilla sitting in the corner: Radical Islam. On 9-11, 3,000 people died at the World Trade Center at the hands of terrorists in the name of Islam. In the years since that tragic event, 150 Americans have been killed in 52 separate acts of deadly Islamic terror or Islam-related honor killing in the United States. And I’m not even going to get into Barcelona, Paris, Berlin, London, Stockholm, Hamburg, Kashmir, Istanbul, etc.

So a mostly peaceful march by some Nazis is a cause of great alarm for AFT, but ongoing Islamic atrocities… well, you know the excuses: “It was workplace violence!” And “They need jobs!”

This kind of warped agenda doesn’t fool many of us, but your kids could be susceptible to it, especially if they hear it on a continuing basis from their teachers.

It would behoove parents to find out if their kid’s teacher is one of the disseminators of this leftist agitcrap. Parents, please talk to your kids daily, and at the first whiff of BS, talk to the teacher, other parents, the principal, friendly media, etc. Sunlight can disinfect rabid ideas from spreading.

Lumping the Nazis in with Republicans, conservatives, the “right,” Donald Trump, George W. Bush, the Koch Brothers et al, while turning a blind eye to radical Islam is devious, dishonest and dangerous. It must be rejected – resoundingly and consistently – by all good, thinking people on both sides of the political spectrum.
