IRA Charitable Gifts
Lasting Change in California
By making a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA to the California Policy Center, you can help strengthen our mission to advocate for lasting change in California, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.
Save on Your Taxes
When you withdraw funds from your IRA, they are considered taxable income. However, if you transfer them directly to charity, you can lower your taxable income while still satisfying your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
Who Does This Work Best For?
Once you turn 73, you’re required to distribute funds from your IRA. Failing to meet the minimum distribution could result in penalties. A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows you to transfer up to $105,000 per individual or $210,000 per couple to a charity, like the California Policy Center, to satisfy your RMD.
Steps to Giving through Your IRA
1. Contact Your IRA Administrator
Reach out to your IRA plan administrator and inform them that you would like to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly to the California Policy Center. They will provide you with the necessary forms to complete the donation. They may ask you to provide California Policy Center’s information.
Tax ID number: 27-2870463

2. Specify the Donation Amount
Decide on the amount you wish to donate. Remember, you can transfer up to $105,000 per individual or $210,000 per couple, which will count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
3. Complete the Transfer
Once your IRA administrator processes the donation, the gift will be issued directly to the California Policy Center. This amount can be excluded from your taxable income, fulfilling your RMD requirement while supporting our mission.
4. Notify Us
Let us know about your gift! Submit this form so we can ensure your donation is properly directed and recognized according to your wishes.
